Suggest to your church body to pray for the persecuted Church as a family before bedtime. This will encourage prayer within your congregation, and will make a significant impact on the lives of suffering Christians. Challenge families in your church to continue after IDOP to remember the persecuted in their prayers at night.
Give One Cup
Explain to your church the number of people who do not have Bibles, and the number of Christians living under persecution (over 100 million). Suggest that over the next several weeks, they sacrifice one small luxury. Similar to fasting, as they sacrifice this luxury, whether it is Starbucks or eating out that instead, they go to the Lord in prayer for the persecuted Church. Check out www.OpenDoorsUSA.org for more personal profiles and prayer points.
Plan a Prayer Walk
Designate different prayer locations around your church campus. At each location, pray for the persecuted Church in a specific region of the world. For example, meet in the foyer to pray for young Christians living in Nigeria and other parts of Africa. Gather by the flagpole to pray for Christians living in the Muslim world. Move from station to station, upholding the Church around the world in a prayer walk.
Pray around the World
Download the Open Doors World Watch List Prayer Guide that includes 50 country profiles and prayer points for each country where Christians face severe discrimination and abuse because of their faith in Christ.
Sing like the Persecuted Do
Consider singing a hymn a capella at the close of your service. Explain that all over the world Christians are worshipping God with only their voices as instruments.
